Kauai Suncatchers The Original |

Pearlized Capiz shells are found in the crystal waters of the South Pacific Sea. These translucent shells have been fashioned entirely by hand to create this charming decorative item. Originally used by Spanish colonists as stained glass for church windows during the Sixteenth Century, they soon appeared in the windows of wealth home owners. These delicate looking shells are bound in copper, brass electroplated and then hand painted, creating a unique expression of light, form and color. Designed and finished on the Island as a truly unique eye-catching memento or gift from Paradise. The Capiz seashells are commercially farmed much like oysters and clams. Therefore the mollusk shell is a food byproduct with no consequent impact on the environment. |
